Abstract { This paper derives equations that describe level-crossing rates and average fade durations for mo-bile receivers operating in spatially complicated mul-tipath channels. The results are useful for describing fading statistics for wireless systems that operate in realistic propagation channels or employ smart anten-nas, adaptive arrays, or other technologies that lead to a non-omnidirectional distribution of multipath power in space.
